Saudi sites registered in World Heritage List

Upon the King’s approval for the registration of several Saudi archeological and heritage sites including (Madain Saleh, Al Daryia, the Historic Jeddah, and Rock Art in Hail), in the World Heritage List of UNESCO, SCTH has made great efforts in preparing and making these sites ready for registration into the World Heritage List in the light of their historical and heritage importance, which enables them to become a source of cultural and tourism attractions, internationally. 

Throughout seven years, efforts of SCTH have successfully resulted in the registration of four Heritage sites in the World Heritage List. The first was Al Hijir site (Madain Saleh), which was registered in 2008, followed by the registration of Turaif Neighborhood near Riyadh on Saturday, 31st July, 2010, and the registration of Historic Jeddah on Saturday, 21st June, 2014, and finally registration of Rock Art of Hail in Jiba and Shiwimis sites in the Hail province, on Friday, 3rd July, 2015.
