Dammam Museum

 


Objective of its establishment:

Highlight the cultural and historical appearance of the Eastern Province of the Kingdom and to inform and educate the community in accordance with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.  The museum is a part of the Dammam public library building on a land area 1281 m 2.  Dammam museum was opened to visitors in 1405, corresponding to 1985.

Museum Contents:

1. Hall of Man and the Universe: The display of text and images speak about the beginning of human history and the formation of Earth and the geological layers, as well as stone tools and photographs of sites represent prehistoric times including the period known as the period of slavery in the region.

2. Hall of Pre-Islamic Age: The beginning of the end of the Stone Ages, until the pre-Islamic period.  It displays a set of tools, pottery pieces and samples of inscriptions and ancient writings as well as texts and pictures telling the story of each of the periods prior to Islam.

3. Islamic Hall: The hall speaks about the migration of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) to Madina and about the entrusted Caliphs and the successive Islamic periods.  It also presents a range of different pieces and display boards including text, images and maps dating back to that period.

4. Prince Hall / Mohammad bin Fahad Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud Heritage: It includes a range of heritage items, coins and pottery and other items of his time.
 
The Museum also screens films on Antiquities and Heritage of the Kingdom.

Work is underway on the preparation of exhibits and their display to create a world-class museum to date.

Tiama Museum


Objective of its establishment:

To highlight the cultural and historical aspects of the governorate of Tiama as one of the most important commercial centers of the ancient North Arabian Peninsula and to inform and educate the community, and follows SCTA directives.


The museum was built in the year 1403H/1983 on a land area of 7850 m 2 and opened to visitors in 1407 AH corresponding to 1987.

Halls of the Museum Contents:


Entrance hall: Includes plates and maps of archaeological sites and the network of museums in the Kingdom, photographs and heritage exhibits.
1. Man and Universe:  Beginning of human beings; formation of Earth and the geological layers and the Stone Ages, models of stone tools of various prehistoric locations in the area of Tiama.
2. Pre-Islam: starting from the Stone Ages, until the pre-Islamic era, it displays a collection of artifacts, writings and ancient rock carvings found in the region. The most important obelisk of Tiama currently displayed in the Louvre Museum in Paris.  The pre-Islamic era’s most prominent sites in the region of Tiama  such as Shoaib caves and the Alhambra Palace and others
3Islamic hall: It talks about the time from the birth of Prophet (Peace be upon him) to his migration to Madina, the first four Caliphs and the Islamic successive periods, in addition to the presentation of a range of different archaeological pieces, paintings, text, images and designs belonging to the period.
4. Hall of Tiama in the recent past: It displays information and pictures about the history of Tiama and its inhabitants during the past three centuries.
5. Hall of Unification of the Kingdom: The talk about the beginning of the Saudi state to the present era by showcasing paintings, photographs and a selection of traditional pieces and of film shows and documentaries.

Objective of its establishment:

To highlight the cultural and historical aspects of the Al-Ahsa province and to inform and educate the community.  It follows the directives of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.

 

The museum was built in 1403 AH/ (1983) on a land area 7000 m2 and it was opened to visitors in 1407 AH corresponding to 1987:

Halls of the museum offers
Entrance hall: It contains paintings showing the archaeological sites and the network of al-Ahsa region, Saudi museums, photographs and traditional pieces.

1. Pre History: Displays texts and images talking about the beginning of the human and the composition of the Earth and the geological layers, pictures, and stone tools of various sites in the area of al-Ahsa, the wildlife and the beginning of domestication of animals and marine life in the region.

2. Per-Islamic periods: It talk about the Dilmun period, Tire and Mosurat up to that pre Islam period as well as maps of trade routes, onshore and offshore in the Arabian Peninsula and the alphabetic writing, and languages in the Arabian Peninsula before Islam and some models..

3. Islamic hall: It talking about the Islamic period in the east of the Arabian Peninsula and the region’s entry into Islam.  There are photos, paintings of local rulers of (Alaioneon Alasfriyon and Aljabriyon) the Ottoman period, the first and the second Saudi state until recovery Ahsa by the late King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-Saud.

4. Hall of unification of the Kingdom: The talk about the unification of Saudi Arabia displaying the pieces of folklore and the lives of nomads and rural community and agricultural and urban cities and markets of old Al Ahsa.

Al Baha Museum



 

Objective of its establishment:

Halls of Museum Content

 

Entrance hall:Entrance hall: It contains Quranic verse describing the relation of religion to the archaeological studies, and a brief history on the antiquity of the KingdomAn introduction to the most important monuments and historical sites in the region.


1.  Hall of prehistory ages: Start from stone ages until pre-Islam. The exhibits include a set of stone implements and pottery pieces. There are paintings and the stone inscriptions as well as photographs telling the story of each of the periods before pre-Islam.

2.  Hall of Al Baha through Islamic history: From the beginning of the migration of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to Medina and the Caliphs and Islamic successive periods, in addition to the presentation of a range of different archaeological pieces, paintings including text, images and designs belonging to this period.

3.  Al Baha Heritage Hall: contains a set of wooden implements manufactories and some clothing and jewelry, and a range of cooking utensils and farming implements.

4. Hall of Unification Al Baha in the Kingdom: It speaks about the accession of the Al Baha to the Saudi regime, and the participation of the region in the unification of the Kingdom. There is an exhibit of photographs and paintings of Amirs who led campaigns on the principalities of Gamud and Zahran and ruled the regions in successive times and the presentation of certain documents and photographs.
5. Hall of Education in Al Baha: Tells about the beginning of formal education and the opening of the first schools in the region, in addition to the presentation of a series of books, pens and a set of old messages.

National Museum

 

Objective of its establishment
To highlight the cultural and historical aspect of the Kingdom and to inform and educate the community.  It comes under the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.

The museum was built in 1417AH (1997G) on a land area of 17, 000 m 2.  It was opened to public on 5/10/1419, corresponding to 22/1/1999 on the occasion of the centenary of the conquest of Riyadh.

Contents of the Museum

 

There are nine distinct galleries divided into 9 wings, as follows:

 

1. Wing of Man and the Universe:  It reviews the scientific phenomena, such as the creation of the universe and the factors affecting the Earth's surface and patterns of life in the geological ages and environments of prehistoric man.  It displays samples of rocks and meteorites, minerals, fossils and the tools of prehistoric man and methods of manufacture, development and models of their dwellings and rock paintings.

 

2. Wing of the Arab kingdoms:  Historical period covering the period from the sixth millennium BC on the Arabian Peninsula and the most important components of civilization and culture, including ancient civilizations, the Arab kingdoms in the Middle Ages, through a visual display of many of the artifacts, sculptures, photographs, maps accompanied by audio and video.

 

3. Wing of pre-Islamic era: A vivid description of the Arabian Peninsula and its inhabitants and the most important cities and industries and markets, commercial and cultural activities during pre-Islam.

 

4. Wing of the Prophet's mission: It contains murals indicating the descent of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) and his family and a brief biography since his birth in Makka to his migration to Madina.  The offers include manuscripts of Qur’an, painting of his route of his migration from Makka to Madina.  It offers the events of the great migration through audio visual means. 

 

5. Wing of Islam & the Arabian Peninsula: Exhibition in this hall highlights the important periods of Islamic history from the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) during the reign of Caliphs in Medina. It also displays the expansion and prosperity in the Umayyad period, as well as the development of civilization and science in the Abbasid, Mamluk and Ottoman periods, besides offering paintings and visual displays, photographs, images, maps, charts, manuscripts, coins, jewelry, carvings and various utensils in addition to the audio and visual presentations on the specific themes.

 

6. Wing of First and Second Saudi State: It represents an important historical period from the date of the Arabian Peninsula (850 1309H / 1246 1819G) and review the conditions of the Arabian Peninsula before the first Saudi State and then the establishment of Dir’iya, followed by security and prosperity of science and then the fall Dir'iya after the founding of the Second Saudi state and stability, then departure from Riyadh. The presentation includes paintings, photographs, maps, models and manuscripts, documents and antique collectibles, like weapons, coins and utensils in addition to the various states of siege of Dir'iya.

 

7. Wing of Unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: It showcases the history of the modern Saudi state from the beginning of conquest of Riyadh by King Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) in 1319H, the stages of his unification of the Kingdom and its organization.  The discovery of oil and the wing includes a architectural models of the in addition to scripts, weapons, rare books, documents, coins and various utensils.

 

8. Wing of Hajj and Two Holy Mosques: The main presentation is on the pilgrimage since ancient times. There are displays of replicas of Mecca, Hajj rituals, the old pilgrim routes in the Arabian Peninsula, history of Makka and its courtyard and the Kaaba, models of Al Madina mosque, pilgrimage through the centuries until the present time and the role of Saudi Arabia towards pilgrims.  It also includes exhibits of archaeological objects of cultural heritage, manuscripts, documents, images, maps and films and documentaries.

 

9. Wing of short-term exhibitions :An area of 1000 m2 is dedicated to temporary exhibitions and visiting internal and external museums and galleries.

 

The exhibition has been using advanced techniques presentations in each wing and halls, utilizing visual effects, of panorama cinema and small screen monitors with soundbits that automatically play corresponding to the subject of display.

Al-Zaher Palace Museum in Makkah

 

 

 

The objective of its establishment:

 

To highlight the cultural and historical aspects of Makka area, to inform and educate the community of the footprints of civilization and the history of Makka since the dawn of history until the present prosperous times and follow the directives Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.

The Al-Zahar Palace Museum of Makkah is situated on an area of (3425 m 2).  It was built and completed 1365 AH / 1946 by order of King Abdul Aziz Al-Saud (may Allah have Mercy on him).  It had been used for some time exclusively for receiving state guests. In 1378 the headquarters of the School of the prosperous established and in the middle of Shaaban 1427 AH the palace was opened to visitors as the museum of Makka for Antiquities and Heritage, after its restoration to its previous state of its construction.

Exhibits of the Museum


Ground Floor

1. Hall of rise of Saudi Arabia: Contains paintings and photographs of the most important archaeological and historical landmarks of the Kingdom such as rock carvings, castles and pilgrimage routes and historical facilities, and findings of archaeological excavations of the different regions, with some artifacts.

2. Hall of Prehistory: The hall exhibits human being and his natural environment in the prehistoric times and his interaction with the nature, the stone tools and historical eras that have gone through it and the beginning of knowledge of agriculture and the domestication of animals.

3. Hall of geological and natural history: The natural history dealing with the geological area of Makka and all kinds of wildlife in it.

4. Hall of pre-Islam: It tells the story of the emergence of Makkah, ancient markets, the human activities and the story of building of the Kabah.  The historical events such as the winter and summer and the year of the elephant and the religions of the Arabs before Islam

 

First Floor

5. Hall Biography of the Prophet: The hall displays some of the illuminations shining over the biography of the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) since his birth until his death.

6. Hall of the evolution of writing: It deals with the evolution of the Arabic script since its beginnings and the types of fonts; the inscriptions in Makka and the famous calligraphers models are offered within it.

7. Hall of Currencies: It displays the currencies of several Islamic periods which show the successive stages of the Islamic coinage.

8. Hall of pilgrimage: It is an open book on the pilgrimage in terms of roads leading to Makka with maps and pictures roads and castles, the modes of transport for pilgrims and the old photographs of pilgrimages.  It is an embodiment of the sacred feelings when entered.

9. Hall of the Grand Mosque Architecture: It exposes the levels experiences in the building of the Grand Mosque that began by the Caliphs and then during the Umayyad and the Abbasid Caliphate to the Ottoman expansion ending in the era of the Saudi state.  The construction of the Kaaba and the Kiswa (the shroud covering the Kabah) and a general plan of the mosque complex is presented.

10. Hall of the Saudi State: This hall tells us the story through photographs, literature and maps, the epic story of the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

11. Hall of education: It tells the story of the emergence of education in Makkah for different ages and the several schools.

12. Heritage Hall (Makki – SHRINE): This hall has many references to the Aristocracy (Hijazi) tools such as the desert and industries and the ancient weapons and tools for fishing, agriculture, cooking, lighting and decorations.

13. Hall of Masterpieces of Islamic Art: The hall contains a selection of Islamic artifacts from various countries around the Islamic world.  It contains the samples of ceramic pots and dishes, decorated brass candlestick and others.

Al Jouf Museum

 

The objective of its establishment:

To highlight the cultural and historical appearance of Al-Jouf, to sensitize and educate the community, and follows the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities directives.
The muse/um was built in (1402 AH / 1982 on a land area of 8000 m2.  It was opened to visitors in 1407AH/1987.


The museum contain the following:

1. Museum’s Exhibition Hall.

2. Administration department.

3. Labs for space and drawing.

4. Laboratory of photography.

5. Laboratory for restoration.

6. Hall television show.

7. Housing for researchers.

8. Library with a collection of specialized books as well as some periodicals and pamphlets.

9. Warehouses.


Museum Exhibition Halls offers following:

Entrance hall: It contain paintings and maps showing archaeological sites in Al Jouf and the network of museums in the Kingdom and photographs of heritage pieces.

1. Pavilion Pre-History: It display text, images on the beginning of the human being and the geological layers, the stone ages, tools and the most important sites such as Al Shoihtiah site.

2. Pavilion of Pre-Islam: The beginning of the post-Stone Age, the era of ignorance.  It displays a set of stone tools, pottery pieces, paintings, inscriptions and writings on the rock, in addition to text, images, telling the story of pre-Islamic times and locations to which they belong in the Al-Jouf.

3. Hall of the Islamic period: It talks about the beginning and migration of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) to Medina, the entrusted Caliphs and Islamic successive periods. It has a range of different archaeological pieces and displays including texts, images and maps dating to this period.

4. Hall of unification of the Kingdom: It talk about the beginning of the first Saudi state to the modern times.  It contains paintings, photographs and films of the periods of Saudi state in addition to a selection of traditional pieces from the region.

 

Work is underway on the preparation of studies and scenarios to create a modern museum with world-class facilities.

Shobrah Palace Museum

 

 

The objective of its establishment:

To highlight the cultural and historical aspect of the Kingdom, inform and educate the community, and follows the general strategy of SCTA.


Palace of Shubra was built  in 1323Ah/1905 in the historic district of Shubra in Tai. It is considered one of the most historically important  palaces in Hijaz for its distinguished activities and events.  It is known for its distinct architectural style and unique combining Roman and Islamic traditional  architecture of the Hejaz region.  The Shobra Palace is  consists of an underground (basement) topped by four floors in addition to supplements of gardens since its inception over nine decades. I  was the office of the late King Faisal when the palace was the headquarters of the Council of Ministers. Now it is a symbol of political place in the kingdom converted to a regional museum for the province of Taif.  It was opened to visitors in 1415 AH corresponding to 1995.

The museum contains:

4. Plants and the restoration laboratory.
5. Warehouse.
6. Library: The collection of books as well as some specialized journals and pamphlets.

Exhbition Halls and offers:

 

1. Entrance hall: It exposes to the profile of the palace and the stages of historical and political developments in the palace and the Office of the King Faisal when the palace was the headquarters of the Council of Ministers.

2. Hall of pre-Islam: It starts from the stone ages, moves on to pre-Islamic era, and displays a set of stone tools, pottery pieces, paintings, rock inscriptions and writings, as well as texts and pictures telling the story of pre-Islamic times.

3. Islamic Hall: It speaks about the beginning of the migration of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to Medina, the entrusted Caliphs and the successive Islamic periods in addition to offering a range of different archaeological pieces and boards include text, images and maps dating to this period.

4. Hall of unification of the kingdom: It tells about the beginning of the first Saudi state to modern times, with displays of paintings and plates of the periods of of the Saudi state as well as selected pieces of heritage from the area of Taif,  It speaks about the Taif industries as the most important mining industry and tools used in the industry.

5. Office of the Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz: It is housed in the the second floor, when the palace was a summer home for the Majesty’s office in addition to a wide range of rare historical images for the Hijaz.

6. Old Market (Al Khan): It presents the old markets (Al Khan) of Taif in Hijaz region and it includes several shops of old professions, such as the Attar, the goldsmith, coppersmith, the quaint tailors in ancient times.

                         Tabuk Museum



The objective of its establishment:

To highlight the cultural and historical aspect of Tabuk to inform and educate the community, and follows the general strategy of SCTA.
 
The museum is located inside the lounge of the Department of Education of Tabuk region on an  area of 500 m2. It was opened to visitors year  in1425AH corresponding to 2004.

 

The museum contains:

1. Exhibition Halof museum.

2. Management.

3. Library.

4. Warehouses.

 

The Exhibition Halls:

 

Entrance hall: Containing Qoranic verses describing religion's relationship with archaeological studies, the panel on the antiquities of the Kingdom, and pictures of the most important archaeological and historical landmarks in the Kingdom.

1. Suite of natural history and geology of the region of Tabuk: The overview contains the samples of the rocks of the region, themining sites, mining and environmental heritage and plants and animals of the Tabuk region.

2. Suite of prehistoric times: It starts from the stone ages until the pre-Islamic era, and displays a set of stone tools, pottery pieces and paintings from rock inscriptions and writings, as well as texts and pictures telling the story of pre-Islamic times.

3. Tabuk wing through the history of Islam: It talks about the beginning to the migration of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to Medina, the entrusted Caliphs and the successive Islamic periods in addition to the presentation boards of text, images and maps dating to this period.

4. Suite of heritage Tabuk: It presents a group of timber industries, some clothing, jewelry, a set of cooking utensils and farming tools.

5. Suite of Tabuk in Saudi crown: It speak about the accession Tabuk to Saudi Arabia, and the participation of people in the region in the standardization of parts of the kingdom, the princes, who led the Emirate of Tabuk.

6. Suite of education in the Tabuk region: It tell about the beginning of formal education, and the opening of the first schools in the region, in addition to a collection of books, pens and old messages.

 Tabuk Museum of the Northern Border



The objective of its establishment:

 

Conservation and documentation of the cultural and heritage of the northern border of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and follows the general strategy of SCTA
It was opened in 1428AH / 2007.

3. Warehouses.

1. Kingdom Hall of the effects of natural history and geology: It includes pictures of geology of the northern border areas, their environments and the most important components and archaeological sites discovered with a selection of artifacts.

2. Hall of prehistoric and pre-Islam: It talks about human life in prehistoric times, his industries, his stone tools and the most important positions in the northern border area in addition to the periods before Islam with a presentation of ancient rock carvings of the time.

3. Islamic Hall: This includes on the stage of early Islam, which began a mission the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the expansion of Islam and the spread of the Islamic conquests.  It  is also presenting the most important path of Zubaydah stations located within the northern border region and its archaeological collections.

4. Hall of the Saudi State: It presents the consolidation process and tells the story first Saudi State and its stability, security and the expansion of the Saudi state to the first and second stages of the unification of the Kingdom and the establishment of the Saudi state by King Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him).  It has a display of documents, photographs and a variety of antique collectibles.

5. Hall of education: The hall is covered by the education process in the region with the presentation of a group of educational documents, correspondence and photographs of schools, activities and the old learning tools.

6. Folklore Hall: It displays the heritage of the region, traditional men's clothing, women's accessories, the tools, weapons and cooking utensils, the  lighting fixtures and others.

Museum of Hail



The objective of its establishment:


To highlight the cultural and historical aspect of the Hail, inform and educate the community, and follows the general strategy of SCTA.


The museum is located on a land area of 1500 m2 and it was opened to visitors after the renovation and addition in 1425, corresponding to 2004,

 

The museum contains:

1. Hall of museum presentation.

2. Management.

3. Library.

4. Warehouses.

 

The Exhibition Halls:


Entrance hall: contains Quranic verse describing religion's relationship with archaeological studies, and a brief on the antiquities of the Kingdom, and the pictures of the most important archaeological and historical landmarks in the Kingdom.

1. Hall of the natural history and geology of the region Hail: The overview contains the samples of the rocks of the region, with a focus on mining sites, mining and environmental heritage, the plants and animals in Hail.

2. Hall of pre-Islamic Hail: Starting from the stone ages, to the  pre-Islamic era, where it shows  a group of stone tools, pottery pieces, and paintings, rock inscriptions and writings and photographs telling the story of each of the periods prior until Islam.

3. Hail Hall throughout Islamic history: the Islamic period was the beginning of the migration of the Prophet peace be upon him to Medina under the Caliphs, and the successive periods, as well as the presentation of the plates containing the texts, photographs and maps dating to this period.

4. Hail Heritage Hall: It highlights the heritage of the region and shows a group of traditional industries, and some clothing, jewelry, heritage cooking utensils, farming tools and other local heritage.

5. Hall of Hail in the Saudi crown: It talks about Baha joining the Saudi regime, and the participation of people in the region in the standardization part of the kingdom, and the princes, who led the Emirate of Hail.

6. Hall of education in the Hail region: It tells about the beginning of formal education and early schools in the region, as well as offers a range of books, films and old messages.

Jeddah Al Khozam Museum  

 

 

 


The objective of its establishment:

 

To highlight the cultural and historical aspect of the Kingdom,  to inform and educate the community, and follows the general strategy of SCTA

.

The museum is located  within the palace of King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-Saud (may Allah have mercy on him),  popularly known as the Khuzam Palace in Jeddah, which was built in 1340 AH / 1923. This palace was converted into a museum and was inaugurated on 17/10/1415 AH-18 / 3 / in 1995.

 

The museum contains:

1. Exhibition Halls of the museum.

2. Management.

3. Photography Lab.

4. Restoration Lab.

5. Library: With a collection of specialized books as well as some periodicals and pamphlets.

6. Warehouses.


The Museum Halls:

 

Entrance hall: containing Qoranic verse describing the relationship of religion and archaeological studies, images of the Two Holy Mosques, after the major expansion in the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, painting for the museums all over the Kingdom, in addition to traditional composite illustrations showing  the importance of marine resources to the lives of residents of Jeddah.

1. Hall of pre-Islam: It starts from the stone age until the pre-Islamic era, and displays a set of stone tools, pottery pieces and paintings from rock inscriptions and writings, as well as texts and pictures relating the story of pre-Islamic period.

2. Islamic Hall: It talk about the beginning to the migration of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to Medina, the entrusted Caliphs and successive Islamic periods, in addition to offering of a range of different archaeological pieces and boards including text, images and maps dating to this period.

3. Hall of unification of the kingdom: It talk about the beginning of the first Saudi state to modern times, with displays of paintings and the periods of the Saudi state in addition to shows of films containing a selection of traditional aspects of the Kingdom.

4. Hall of King Abdul Aziz: It includes some of the belongings and special and historic photographs of his life (may Allah have mercy on him).

5. Hall of King Saud University: It is home to some of its collection of photographs and documents about his life (may Allah have mercy on him).

6. Jeddah Chamber: It contains exhibits about the city of Jeddah and its development through pictures and old maps of the city

.

There will be film shows on the antiquitiests and the heritage of the Kingdom.

Museum of Musmak Fort  

 


The objective of its establishment:


To highlight the cultural and historical aspects of the palace through the conquest of Riaydh and the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to raise awareness and educate the community, and follows the directives of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.
Musmak palace was built in 1312 AH/1895 on a land area in 1880 m2.  It contains a mosque and the bureaucracy offices and wells.  There are three residential units, one for the establishment of the Governor and the latter’s uses, second one a Khazan for money and the third for the entertaining the guests.  The palace was converted into a museum, and officially opened on 13/1/1416 AH corresponding to 11 / 6 / 1995.  It is located in downtown Riyadh, and consists of the following sections:

 

1. Hall of museum presentation.

2. Management.

3. Warehouses.

 

The contents of the museum presentations:
It includes supply rooms containing paintings, photographs and maps narrating the saga of the heroic recovery of Riyadh, and the story of unification of the Kingdom by the late King Abdul Aziz, as well as pieces of the weapons used in that era like, guns and swords.  The museum houses photos, paintings of modern development in the Kingdom Saudi Arabia in all sectors. The museum also displays a number of documentaries about the conquest of Riyadh, and features of cultural development in the Kingdom

Museum of Najran

 

 

 

The objective of its establishment:

 
To highlight the appearance of the  cultural and historical region of Najran in general and the archaeological site of Okhdood in particular and to sensitize and educate the community, and follows the directives of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.
 
The museum was built in 1403 AH/1983 near the site of archaeological Okhdood in Najran.  It is built on a land area of 482,232 m2, and was opened to visitors in 1407 AH/1987.


The museum contains:

 

1. Hall of museum presentation.

3. Space for drawing.

4. Lab of photography.

5. Restoration laboratory.

6. Hall television show.

7. Housing for researchers.

:

Entrance hall: Includes plates for maps of archaeological sites region of Najran, network of museums in Saudi Arabia and heritage exhibits and photographs.

1. Hall of Pre-History: Wide range of displays of text, images talking about the beginning of the human being and the composition of the Earth and the geological layers, the stone ages, stone tools and models of various prehistoric times and theirlocations in the region of Najran.

2. Hall of pre-Islam: It starts from the post-Stone Age era, age of ignorance, and displays a set of stone tools,pottery pieces, paintings from the inscriptions and rock writings, in addition to text, images, telling the story of each of the periods prior to Islam and in particular archaeological Okhdood site..

3. Hall of the Islamic period: This takes you into the period of the Islamic, from the beginning to the migration of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to Medina, the trusted Caliphs, and the successive periods, in addition to a range of antiquities including text, images, maps and inscriptions rock back to this period.

4. Hall of unification of the Kingdom: It relates about the unification of the Kingdom and the region to join the Saudi regime with the presentation of old photographs of the area and folklore displays.

 Museum Namas

 

 

 

The objective of its establishment:      

 

The Namass Museum is (Qasralnmas Heritage) one of the best museums in the region to for heritage with actual archaeological inscriptions and historical documents.

The museum is located in the old neighborhood and this neighborhood is the architectural masterpiece because it represents a model of architecture in this part of the region, having been built more than 250 years ago. 

The museum consists of five floors and contains over 2000 pieces of heritage and archaeological objects.
The museum consists of:

1. Hall of agricultural tools.

2. Hall of household appliances.

3. Hall of weapons.

4. Hall of women.

5. Hall of manuscripts

 

In addition to the presentation of models of writings on rocks inside the museum.  The museum courtyard presents models of methods of stone constructions and methods of extraction of water from the depths of the earth.  It includes some Islamic writings on the rocks, some of the traditional tools, and a model of furnaces that were used in the past. The museum was opened in 1/1/1420 AH.

The objective of its establishment:
To highlight the cultural and historical aspects of the Jazan region and to inform and educate the community.  To follow the directives of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.
The museum was built in 1403 AH/1983 near the site of an archaeological study, Besbia  on a land area of 10000 m2.  It was opened to visitors in 1407 AH in 1987.

4. Hall of unification of the Kingdom: It talks about the beginning of the first Saudi state to modern times with exhibition of paintings and photographs ofor the periods of the Saudi state, in addition to a selection of traditional pieces from Jazan.

Museum of the Two Holy Mosques

 

The objective of its establishment:


To highlight the cultural and historical aspects of the Two Holy Mosques, and follow the directives of the General Presidency for the Two Holy Mosques


The museum contains seven rooms distributed as follows:

 

1. Entrance hall: There are pictures of old and new glass models of the Two Holy Mosques

2. Hall of the Grand Mosque: The models, precious artifacts and inscriptions written especially in the Holy Mosque.

3. Hall of the Kaaba: Contains models of the covering (Kiswa) of the old door the Kaaba, the weaving machines for the manufacture of the Kiswa and other collectibles.

4. Hall of photography: Includes rare photos of the Two Holy Mosques.

5. Hall of manuscripts: The models include the variety of writings in Two Holy Mosques, and a copy of Koran by Osman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him).

6. Hall of Zamzam: The general framework for the well of Zamzam prepared in the early fourteenth century Hijri and ancient inscriptions and photographs of old and new well of Zamzam.

7. Hall of the Prophet's Mosque: It includes examples of the Prophet's Mosque and rare artifacts, in addition to photographs.

Museum of Saudi Aramaco

 

The objective of its establishment:

To highlight the cultural and historical aspects of the oil industry, which follows the directives of the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco).

The contents of the museum:

The museum contains a presentation on the artistic heritage of the Arab and Islamic origin, it offers a study on the composition of the oil in nature and its exploration.  It also tells the story of Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) with the use of modern technical means and clear vision.

Museum of Currency

 

 

The objective of its establishment:


To highlight the cultural and historical appearance of currencies, and it follows the directives of the  Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency.

 

The contents of the museum:


The museum contains a collection of rare coins that had prevailed before Islam and a group of Islamic coins until the fourteenth century AH.  It also offers a samples of the currencies of the GCC States, and the currencies of some Arab countries.

Museum Saqr Jazeera Airways

 

The objective of its establishment:

To highlight the cultural and historical appearance of the Royal Saudi Air Force and it is subordinate to the Ministry of Defence and Aviation.
The museum was opened on the occasion of the centennial celebrations of the Kingdom on the 7th of Shawwal 1419 H corresponding to 24/1/1999.
It Includes a enclave wherein the historical development of the Royal Air Force Saudi Arabia (Royal Saudi Air Force) is displayed since its inception at the hands of His Majesty the King Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud.  There is over sixty-five years of documented history with real aircrafts and model planes.  There are photographs and documents to show how it all began with just a few jet planes that reached hundreds  into one of the most powerful airwats in the world.

 

The historical period of this exhibition is divided into five phases, namely:

1. Pre-establishment stage 1333-1344 AH/(1914-1925)  (the onset of aircraft in the skies of the Arabian Peninsula).

2. The establishment stage, 1344-137AH/(1925 1954).

3. Stage of development 373-1383 AH/(1954 1962).

4. The development phase 1383-1402 AH/(1962 1982).

5. The update phase in 1402 AH/(1982).

The establishment of the museum concluded its first phase, which included galleries and the interior contents of the aircraft and weapons both old and new in  addition to the Space corner, which includes a model akin to the space mission as well as computers for use by visitors to increase their knowledge of the aircrafts, as well as booths showing historical films and documentaries.  There is a open courtyard with some real aircrafts as well as large-scale flight equipment.
The future phases includes building a mosque and a conference hall, some showrooms and a cultural center with 3D screen shows, a library and educational center as well as a center for aircraft maintenance and equipment in the museum.

Archaeological Museum of King Saud University

 

The objective of its establishment:


To highlight the of cultural and historical aspects of the excavations of the University.  It follows the directives of the College of Tourism and Antiquities, King Saud University.

 

The contents of the museum:
The museum contains artifacts selected from the results of Hafriti, Al Faw, and Rabza which is part of al the college exploration which is shown in its entirety.  It includes graffiti, ceramics, pottery, jewelry and various coins, statues, murals, and others stockpiled from the exploration shites.
