Efforts of HRH Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in support of tourism and heritage
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, has made great efforts to promote tourism and heritage in the Kingdom in general and Riyadh capital in particular when he was the Governor of the Riyadh region.
This, in addition to his continuing patronage for the conferences and exhibitions held by SCTA in Riyadh. HRH Prince Salman believed in the economic and cultural role of tourism, antiquities and heritage, especially in light of the rich potential of the Kingdom in these economic and cultural fields.
HRH Prince Salman's notable efforts in this area:
- Patronizing SCTA's program to develop State Palaces in the era of King Abdul Aziz, visiting most of these palaces to closely monitor the work in progress.
- Patronizing the heritage villages and towns program which was launched in Riyadh province, precisely from Al Ghat Municipality. HRH visited the project to inspect work progress, besides honoring the agreements of project-funding between the Saudi Credit and Saving Bank (SCSB) and Al Ghat Cooperative Association for funding the project of the Heritage Inns.
- Development of Al Daryia, and closely following up its development progress.
- Involved personally in the service of the Kingdom's heritage through his position as the Chairman of King Abdul Aziz Dara.
Inaugurated a number of projects which serve tourism and heritage in Riyadh, including Wadi Hanifa Development Project, Wadi Namar, King Abdul Aziz Historical Center, public parks and the project of King Abdullah International Parks which are carried out by a number of public departments under his chairmanship, including Ar-Riyadh Development Authority (ADA) and the Riyadh Governorate.
- Patronizing annual Riyadh Tourism Festival and Riyadh Eid events.
- Chairing meetings of Riyadh Tourism Development Council and approving Riyadh Tourism logo.
Patronizing the project of developing and rehabilitating Al Tawheed Pathway, which was used by King Abdul Aziz while unifying the Kingdom.
- Supporting the establishment of the tourism development committees in eight municipalities across Riyadh Province, these are: Al Kharj, Al Majm'a, Al Zolfi, Wadi Al Dawasir, Shagrah, Al Quaiwiah, Al Ghat and Thadiq Municipality.
- Patronizing Al Zhaherah Development Project.
