Last Saturday, 18th February, 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Defense and Chairman of King Abdul Aziz Dara, visited Al Musmak Historic Palace.
Upon his arrival at Al Musmak Palace, HRH Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz was received by His Royal Highness Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz Governor of Riyadh, His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz President of SCTA and His Excellency Dr. Fahad Al Samari Secretary General of King Abdul Aziz Dara.
HRH Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz together with his escorts had a tour in Palace's different parts as well as acquainted with museum exhibits which had lately been development by SCTA.
In a press statement after his visit, HRH Prince Salman has called on youth to visit historic museums and palaces to inspire country history, its foundation stages and unification.
HRH added: "The large cultural activity that the Kingdom witnesses (Praise be to Allah) is a source of our pride and it is inherent in our history. Security and safety in the Kingdom led to remarkable scientific and cultural activities in all areas of our life".
Answering a question on the importance of Al Musmak Palace and other historic locations in addition to museums in introducing youth in particular and citizens in general to the history of the country, HRH said: "In this place (Al Musmak) that from which the unification of the Kingdom began with a group of people do not exceed 63 persons, the unity they reached in this country is based on Qur'an and Sunna".
HRH called the Saudi citizens (youth in particular) to visit Al Musmak and historic palaces and museums. Sending his message to the youth saying: "Read the history of your fathers, visit Al Musmak and the historic landmarks of this country where we have to thank Allah for this grace. Our youth should know how this unity was reached based on Islamic faith; (it is an Arabic and Islamic absolute unity)".
In this context, His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz has expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH Crown Prince for the special attention paid by the leadership of the country towards linking citizens to their history as well as brining out aspects of the unique unity that enjoyed by the country which were achieved by the founder King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman together with the support of the honest sons in this country.
HRH President of SCTA also expressed his appreciation to HRH Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz for his visit to Al Musmak Palace which reflects his persistent attention to everything related to the history of this blessed country.
Referring to the persistent concern of HRH Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz towards the national heritage, HRH President of SCTA has mentioned the previous visits made by HRH Prince Salman to King Abdul Aziz Palace in Al Kharj last December, 2011. He is now visiting Al Musmak Museum to recognize developmental works that are carried out by SCTA within its program "Saudi State Palaces' rehabilitation in King Abdul-Aziz reign" and for its execution that SCTA collaborates with King Abdul Aziz Dara, Ministry of Culture and Information and King Abdul Aziz Public Library.
Noteworthy, the rehabilitation program aims to restore and employ historic buildings in the reign of King Abdul Aziz so as to be cultural centers in order to highlight Saudi State history and as venues for museums to showcase foundation stages, documents, photos and collectables.
